  What a pleasant surprise to find a family-owned delicious barbecue restaurant! The owner, Dan, met me at the door and welcome to me, which I thought was very nice! He explained the difference to me in there many varieties of barbecue, but I chose my all-time favorite pulled pork. Boy, was I surprised to see the nice pile of meat on that sandwich for less than $5! The Barbecue beans I had with it were excellent and so is the homemade iced tea. All-in-all, a wonderful experience and I definitely will be back! They are the First Place winners in the Herald Tribune 2018 best barbecue award, and now I tasted why! As Dan told me," they let the meat do the talking!"

  We decided to eat here after being at the hospital all day with my wife and arrived at 8PM. The sign clearly states open daily from 11-9pm. When I arrived at 8PM all chairs were on the tables and the store was clearly closed. I called them because the 3 men working were staring at me from the kitchen. "Ethan" decided to bravely answer the phone as the other 2 yelled "don't answer it" in the background! He advised that the owner "Dan" told them to close since they were not busy. I gave him a hard time on the phone while we looked at each other through the window as 3 other potential customers arrived. I spoke to them also and explained the situation. We all agree that is fine business practices if the sign says "Dan's BBQ" but a franchisee typically doesn't make the rules on the fly. I have enjoyed this place being next door but I won't be back. My wife was extremely let down after waiting all day for normal food.
